Cross Country Skiing

One of Montana’s finest Nordic trail systems is located just west of the resort. The Mount Haggin trails are located on Mill Creek Road (SH 274) 11 miles south of Highway 1, near Anaconda. At Mount Haggin, they maintain approximately 20 km of groomed cross-country ski trails in cooperation with the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Parks. Approximately 10 km are groomed for skate skiing, and 15 km are groomed for classic skiing. Ski trails can also be used as access to backcountry skiing along the Continental Divide. The club also grooms trails at Moulton reservoir above Butte in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service. The trails here are generally not groomed to the same standards as at Mt. Haggin but there is excellent skiing and the trails are dog-friendly.

5 km of groomed trails, plus many more miles of ungroomed trails are also available at Discovery Ski Area.   click here to view the Mt. Haggin Nordic Ski Trails.
